Unbroken: Social Justice Poetry
Let There be Light
by Lovina Lopez
Beaten mentally with words unspoken,
Kick me with tears of sorrow,
Punch me with words of sin.
Do not feel pity!
Let me learn right!
Slap me with reality for I am eager to find it!
I will not give in,
I will not fight back.
Bite me with resent,
Let me see.
I will crawl out of this horrid cave.
I will walk tall and discover truths.
Let there be light and not a tunnel in sight,
I refuse to crawl again.
