We've been digging for oil
because oil runs the world
and the world is run by oil.
We dig, dig, dig,
deeper, deeper, deeper go the rigs
the pressure below built by demand from above,
the worlds thirst for oil
makes addicts of us all.
How many wells will we dig?
This one small that one big.
How much do we know
of the beauty of the sea?
A tender repose hides a deadly explosion we will see.
Methane gas 15 miles in length
danger danger just to fill our tanks.
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle then bobble bobble bobble
the airs pollutants now at double.
There are roughly
27,000 wells capped
that lay dormant
never more to be tapped.
Who is on inspection?
The same people that
brought you deepwater destruction?
Negligence and denial
drips a steady stream of bile.
Eleven men dead in a flash
who will sooth the babies rash?
A father lost a mother forlorn.
The oil gushes and flows
corexit 9500 ocean mist steadily grows.
This deadly dispersant burns your nose
ours eyes sting and turn to rose.
Families wonder what their futures are.
Mr. President you talked of change
but delivered nothing but the same.
You said transparency was your name
is this all a corporate game?
Or are they holding your feet to the oily fire
with all the weighty earnings they desire.
What is happening beneath the sea
all to close, but not for us to see.
No photographers with in 65 feet
or 40,000 dollar bills we will delete.
Oil covered otter washed a shore
carcass removed at night and seen no more.
Little men with flashlights nightly comb the beach,
they search for the oily dead, secrecy we must keep.
We've seen and heard the cries of gloom
it washed a shore from a watery tomb.
Drill baby drill or
spill baby spill?
Oil is done it had its day,
its time for us to move away
Wind and solar must we usher in
It is the only way, for us to win.
Cover-up for Profit

According to a report by, Josue Olmos at GlobalResearch.ca, many safety mechanisms were overlooked prior to the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig. Olmos points out that a 33 page report was taken one month prior the rig blow-out that cost 11 workers their lives. The report showed serious concerns about what appears to be negligence. One glaring warning was the blow out preventer, which is designed to stop this kind of disaster. The blow out preventer is design to shut down the well when accidents occur. It had not been inspected since 2000. The preventer is suppose to be inspected every 3 to 5 years. After the accident a journalism black-out was imposed with in 65 feet of any activity performed by British Petroleum (BP). Something fishy is going on (pardon the bun).

The federal government is giving a joint venture involving oil giant BP millions of dollars in stimulus money to build a power plant on farmland near the tiny Kern County town of Tupman, even as the company faces heavy government pressure and a criminal probe into the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
BP is benefiting from a $308 million federal grant over several years for the cutting-edge power plant on cotton and alfalfa fields seven miles from the western edge of Bakersfield. More than half of the money, $175 million, is coming from stimulus funds. The rest is coming from another federal program.
